Intersex people are born with physical sex characteristics that don’t fit medical norms for female or male bodies. The specific needs and issues faced by intersex people are often underrepresented and invisible, such as the violation of their physical integrity through normalization practices, stigma, structural and verbal discrimination, harassment, lack of adequate medical care and access to needed medication, and a lack of legal recognition. COC is supporting safe meeting spaces for intersex activists to exchange and strategize, and is part of an orchestrated effort to increase funding for intersex-led organisations and initiatives.
