Making Space in Malawi for Rainbow Voices

LITE was established in 2016 and registered in 2018. It started by conducting needs assessments with lesbian, trans and intersex community people in Malawi – LITE’s constituencies. This assessment highlighted the needs of about 500 community members in various cities in relation to access to health, employment, education among others.

Today LITE does advocacy and lobby for policy change as well as community mobilization activities such as support groups. Also, it sensitizes public health staff and the police.

“People are tired… they want to talk about the issues that affect them.”- Lawrence, ED LITE
